The Ahtialan language (а́хтіаљєдаі кі́єнау ['ɑxtiʲaɮɛˌdai 'kijɛnau]) is a Central Mikui language and the lingua franca of the continent of Mikui. It is used by about 60% of the citizens of the Ahtialan Commonwealth and by up to 2% in Amultia, as well as a minority in Makratia.

It is the oldest and the most advanced language ever created by RWHÔ, with a highly developed tradition and a purely a priori way of development (meaning most changes are made because they sound well), which makes it highly unstable.

NameEdytuj

Its name is said to originate in an older word ахтіалумє meaning "armadillo", the national animal of the language speakers in the conworld. There is also the word ӓљалаі, though rarely used, which used to mean "flower scent". In the real history of conlang invention, the name "Ahtialan" (polish: ahtialański) was created in 2005. The original name, used for ten years, is kept in secret.

DevelopmentEdytuj

This section is about the real-life history of the conlang.

The idea of making a conlang appeared very early to the author, about the age of four of five, because of many foreign languages that could have been heard at home; however, the precise time cannot be determined. The basic Ahtialan alphabet was created in about 1997, which helped the language survive. The Makratian language had been superior to Ahtialan for a long time, but the situation suddenly reversed most probably in 2000, according to one of the sources. The second revolution came in 2005, when the author's linguistic awareness was developed enough to start the first advanced dictionaries and write phonological and grammatical rules. The third revolution started with trends, in the early 2010, to completely review the grammatical form of the language and change it from agglutinative to fusional.

PhonologyEdytuj

Ahtialan language still possesses an unusually large amount of phonemes.
